This workshop will introduce the Millennium Cohort Study, focusing on the newly available data from the survey carried out when the study children were aged seven years.
The taught component includes presentations on:
the MCS survey,
the MCS sample
and issues of weights, response, non-response and attrition; and how to access data.
Topics included:
linking data from all four sweeps; recoding variables; deriving new variables; examining frequencies and percentages; correlation and regression; how issues of weighting affect results; how to measure attrition and the implications this may have for research.
There is a non-refundable charge of £60 (£30 for HE students) for attending, which includes lunch and workshop documentation.
This event is designed for new and intending users of data from the study and is jointly organised by the Centre for Longitudinal Studies (CLS) at the Institute of Education and the Economic and Social Data Service (ESDS) at the University of Essex.
